Karimganj: In another major blow to the drug traffickers, Assam police has seized a huge quantity of drugs at the Assam-Tripura border on Sunday.

Reportedly, the police seized 40,000 bottles of Codeine Phosphate syrup from a truck, which market value is worth Rs 2 crores. The drugs were concealed under the stack of 250 cartoons of fruits in a truck.  

Karimganj police took to Twitter and wrote, “#WarOnDrugs Major blow to drug cartels!  40,000 bottles of cough syrup were seized at Assam Tripura border by alert staff of Churaibari WP. The drugs was carefully concealed under stacks of fruits. The seized narcotics have a market value of approx 2 crores. #AssamSaysNoToDrugs.”

Moreover, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “#AssamAgainstDrugs Our police is hawk-eyed! On sniffing foul play, @assampolice seized a massive haul of 40,000 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, packed in 250 cartons & concealed under 100 cartons of fruits, in a truck at Karimganj, on way to another state.@karimganjpolice.”
