Gangtok: The Sikkim Nagrik Samaj (SNS) have submitted a complaint letter against Jacob Khaling, Political Secretary to Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.

Jacob Khaling was accused of attempt to rape, molestation, and other cognizable offenses.

Reportedly, SNS has submitted a complaint letter to the Sikkim Director General of Police S.D. Negi asking about updates on an FIR that was filed more than a month ago.

As per the official report, on July 6, an FIR was sent to SP through speed post, which was received on July 9 by the SP office. Following this, no FIR was registered against the accused by the local police.

Moreover, SNS claimed that Jacob Khaling, a senior leader of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) Party and Political Secretary to the Sikkim CM was the main culprit behind the incident.

SNS spokesperson said, “We are in shock that after a month also no investigation has been taken against this inexcusable crime.”

“Police are more interested in protecting the powerful people rather than providing justice to the victim.” added the spokesperson.

Further, the spokesperson stated that this kind of act by the police department not only brought dishonor to the entire police department but also weaken the faith of citizens in the law agencies.

“We demand justice for the victim along with an immediate suspension of Jacob Khaling from his post. SKM party has turned Sikkim into Jungle Raj.” said the spokesperson.
