Guwahati: The Sonapur Police arrested Prafulla Bora in connection to a murder case at Jugdol area of Sonapur. The accused killed Ramen Karhar on the intervening night on Saturday. The police received a call at around 2:21 am regarding the murder at Jugdol.
Based on valuable inputs, the incharge OC of Sonapur Police Station immediately reached the crime spot and started investigation on the case.
The accused, Prafulla Bora, had concealed the dead body near the jungle behind his house. Initially Bora denied any involvement in the murder of Ramen Karhar, but later on after thorough examination the accused confessed and led the police team to the dead body.
Preliminary enquiry revealed that both these persons knew each other. In the late evening of September 11, the victim went to the house of the accused which was locked. He somehow opened the door and entered the house of the accused. On return, the accused found the victim inside his house without permission, had a heated argument and thus the accused Prafulla Bora hit the victim Ramen Karhar with an iron rod and a “Dao.
Upon interrogation it was revealed that the wife of the accused tried to prevent the whole incident but in vain.
The murder weapons were recovered from the accused before taking him into custody. The dead body has been sent for post mortem examination.
Meanwhile, further follow-up action is underway.
