Digital Desk: A female one-horned rhino was found dead at Kohora range in Kaziranga National Park.

Reportedly, the rhino carcass was recovered on the banks of the Diphlu River near the Salmara forest area by a patrolling team.

According to forest officials, the rhino died of old age. The horn was also intact, indicating that it was not a case of poaching.

According to forest officials, it's suspected that the rhino died elsewhere and that its body traveled through the stream before washing ashore in Salmara, where the carcass was discovered after it washed up on the river bank.

Other carnivorous animals were unable to access the carcass because it was floating in the river, they added.

Earlier this month, the skeleton of a one-horned rhino was found in Assam's Manas National Park. According to sources, the skeleton was found in the Bansbari zone of the national park.

It was suspected that the rhino died during a fight with another rhino.
