Guwahati: Assamese short film "Xogun" (Vulture) has been selected to the International Children's Rights Film Festival (ICRFF), to be held in Turkey's Izmir city.

The short movie is adapted from an acclaimed short story by well-known writer-journalist Manoj Kumar Goswami. Goswami also directs the film.

"The film is a comment on how the media world is evolving in modern times. It is a 16-minute movie set in a very isolated region," filmmaker and critic Utpal Borpujari stated.

Writer-journalist Manoj Kumar Goswami said, "This is a film festival that focuses on films which talk about children's rights. It is an old film festival being held in Turkey for the last ten years. They try to create a conversation regarding children and their rights globally in the current context due to various socio-political situations across the world."

"It is an extraordinary platform to get one's movie screened," the filmmaker appended.

The festival is organized yearly to promote awareness regarding children's rights by the Children's Rights Culture and Art Association.

Xogun was earlier selected for numerous prestigious short film festivals, such as the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival. It also included 14th Signs Festival (Thiruvananthapuram), New York, Indian Film Festival, and Tasveer South Asian Film Festival (USA).

It had won the best film award at the 13th International Guwahati Film Festival. In addition, it was chosen for the best film at the 5th Chalachitram National Film Festival, Guwahati.

The film cast comprises veterans like Sanjeev Hazorika and Dhananjay Nath, young talents like Rimjhim Deka and Ankit Shandilya, and child actors Kapil Garo (of "Ishu" fame), Anurag Rabha, Phanibhushan Rabha, and Ashish Rabha.
