Lucknow: Apart from the COVID pandemic, Zika virus continues to create panic in Uttar Pradesh. On Saturday, 13 fresh cases of the mosquito borne virus were detected in the city of Kanpur. This takes the total number of cases in the district to 79.
Apart from Kanpur, a confirmed case has also been reported from the Kannuaj district of the state. According to reports, a 45-year-old man has been detected with the virus on Saturday. This has been informed by the health department of the state.
The health department and the local authorities have stepped up surveillance to monitor its spread across the state. All hospitals have made special arrangements for the treatment of the virus infected patients.
"Zika virus infection is spreading rapidly in Kanpur. In this case, special caution is required. Arrangements have been made in all hospitals for the treatment of virus-infected people. The health of each patient is being monitored. Surveillance has been improved," a health official stated.

Concerning the rising cases of the virus, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also instructed the local authorities to accelerate the testing work and other sanitization arrangements.
"Infection with the Zika virus is spreading rapidly in Kanpur. Considering the seriousness, special caution is required. Dengue testing should also be intensified. Arrangements should have been made in all hospitals. The health of each patient should be continuously monitored," said CM Adityanatah.
Zika is a mosquito-borne virus that spreads through mosquito bites. Some of its basic symptoms are muscle pain, headache, fatigue, abdominal pain, fever and so forth.
