Chowdhury generously donated his land to the Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society...

Digital Desk: Debananda Chowdhury (Bubul), the founder and vice president of the Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society and the son of the late Girijananda Chowdhury, passed away at the Apollo International Hospital in Guwahati on Saturday(March 2, 2024). Debananda Chowdhury breathed his last at the age of 74 years.

He was born in Guwahati on October 5, 1950, and joined Don Bosco School there for his early schooling before completing his studies at Tezpur.

Chowdhury generously donated his land to the Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society, facilitating the establishment of the Girijananda Chowdhury University in Azara, Guwahati.

He took great pride in raising his cows, horses, and ducks on his farm throughout his life. Apart from that, he loved the company of dogs and maintained several at his residence at Chowdhury Tilla, Dispur.

He is survived by his wife, two brothers, a sister, a daughter, and several other relatives.

His funeral rites took place on Sunday at 2:30 pm, at his residence in Chowdhury Tilla, Opposite Assam Secretariat in Guwahati.
