Digital Desk: Two students preparing for the National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) allegedly died by suicide in Kota, Rajasthan on Wednesday within three hours. According to a police report, the cases of suicide toll rose to six in the first 22 days of the new year.

An 17-year-old Assamese student who was preparing for JEE (Mains) committed suicide at a Kota hostel on Wednesday morning. He was found hanging by his mother who had gone to buy fruits for her only son. The mother visited Kota to support her son as he was preparing to appear for the upcoming exams. The deceased student had been preparing for JEE for the last two years.

The mother who had high hopes for her son could not bear the pain and collapsed. Somehow, after three hours she came to her senses and requested the police to contact her relative in Delhi.

The circle inspector of Jawahar Nagar police station, Ram Laxman Gurjar, said the student was preparing for the engineering entrance exam. He allegedly took the extreme step because of the extreme pressure and anxiety he felt while preparing for the exams.

Two hours before this incident, a 24-year-old aspiring doctor from Ahmedabad, Gujarat also hanged herself from the ceiling in her PG room.
