Digital Desk: In a disturbing occurrence, a group of robbers stole the cell phone from Law and Order DIG Vivekraj Singh while he was usually taking a walk in the morning time.

DIG Vivekraj Singh was caught off guard on July 23 as a group of robbers stole his cell phone while he was out for his usual morning walk in Guwahati.

The incident occurred against the backdrop of Cachar police intensifying their efforts to crack down on the grey market of stolen motorcycles and reduce the rising number of bike thefts earlier in June.

The special campaign resulted in the recovery of 20 two-wheelers, comprising 9 scooters and 11 motorbikes, from various areas in Silchar and Baskandi.

During the operation, the police captured eight suspects involved in the illegal trafficking of stolen motorcycles, including an alleged leader of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).
