A case has been registered at the Fakiragram police station.

Digital Desk: In yet another operation, Assam police detained three linkmen connected to the banned insurgent group Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) in the Kokrajhar area on suspicion of extortion.

A squad of Karimganj police began an operation in the Kashibari area and detained the trio after receiving a letter sent in the name of the KLO organisation demanding Rs 50 lakh from several people.

The detained people have been named Pranab Rai (age 21), Mandeep Rai (19), and Nabayjyoti Rai (age 22).

A case has been registered at the Fakiragram police station.

In new battles with the police that broke out in Kokrajhar earlier this year, two KLO cadres were killed.

When the police learned specifically that KLO cadres were present at Chakraxila Hills, they reportedly began a wide-ranging operation there.

Following a thorough investigation, the police discovered the banned group's hideout. As a result, the police and the group got into violent fights.

Nipun Roy of Bongaigaon and Abhijit Deka of Rowta have been named as the two deceased cadres.

Four cadres allegedly made it out of the scene of the incident, according to police sources. Yet the cops managed to corner one cadre and take him into custody.
