Digital Desk: Assam's Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption has arrested several government officials in connection with bribery cases.

Syed Arisuddin Ahmed, an assistant superintendent at the SEBA's New Guwahati Registration Branch, was arrested red-handed while accepting a bribe on Friday. 


This operation exposed a conspiracy involving Dina Bandhu Kalita who is the in-charge Superintendent of the Registration Branch. They were caught manipulating the complainant's HSLC certificate to obtain illicit gains.


In the same operation, Dina Bandhu Kalita was also apprehended for allegedly demanding and accepting bribes from Syed Arisuddin Ahmed, a SEBA employee, in a scandalous case of corruption.

Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, carried out another fruitful operation just two days earlier, on October 4.

Junu Kalita, a junior assistant in the PHE Department's Office of the Executive Engineer, was caught red-handed accepting a bribe in her office. The bribe was linked to the processing and issue of a Contractor License.

The Directorate carried out a second operation on the same day, this time arresting Sub Inspector (UB) Merafat Ali of Panigaon Police Station in the Lakhimpur District. SI Merafat Ali was found accepting a bribe from a complainant at the police station. The bribe was allegedly given in exchange for facilitating bail in a criminal case.
