Digital Desk: According to reports that surfaced on Tuesday, a female police constable who had been deployed to the Silsako eviction allegedly committed suicide by jumping off from the Saraighat Bridge in Jalukbari.
The police personnel has been reportedly identified as Gayotri Hazarika hailing from Nagaon and she was posted in the Paltan Bazar Police.
It has come to light that she repeatedly urged higher police officials not to send her to the Silsako eviction site before she was sent there, but they ignored her pleas and sent her to the area instead.
In the meantime, a long suicide note and Gayotri's mobile were found on Saraighat Bridge along with other personal belongings.
It is to be noted that the exact reason behind her extreme step is yet to be known.
Notably, a search operation has been launched by the police official in the Brahmaputra River to recover her body.
It may be mentioned that there have been allegations that the police is trying to cover the matter.
