New Delhi: To discuss the present covid-19 situation ahead of the assembly election in five states, today, the Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan arrived at the Election Commission of India (ECI) office.

Reportedly, senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will also be present in the poll panel meeting.

Notably, Assembly election's are scheduled for next year in five states: Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Punjab.

Earlier, sources quoted, “The Election Commission of India will meet with senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, including Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, on December 27 to view the current covid-19 scenario in five states ahead of the 2019 Assembly elections.”

Recently, due to the spike in Omicron cases in the country, the Allahabad High Court appealed to the Election Commission of India to postpone the assembly election in the five states of the country, which is due in the next year.

Moreover, the High court also appeals to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ban the election-related gathering in the state.
