Digital Desk: Australia regained the Border-Gavaskar trophy on Sunday after defeating India in a hard fought series. This win secured Australia's spot in the World Test Championship(WTC) final against South Africa. Australia clinched the series by 3-1 at Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday.

India's defeat has finished the chances of entering into the final of WTC. India moved to the third position in the WTC point table from 52.77 to 50.00. However, Australia achieved the second position with 63.73 points. The South African team is currently leading the point table with 66.67
points. The Australian team will face now South Africa in the WTC final at Lord's Cricket Ground on July 11-15, 2025.

This loss has caused India's chances for a third consecutive WTC final as the team faced six Test match defeats within a span of only three months. India lost both the finals against New Zealand and Australia in the previous editions of the World Champions Trophy.

India lost the BGT series after a gap of 10 years following a defeat by 6 wickets in the final Test match on Sunday.

Australia performed brilliantly on day three to beat India by six wickets. Coming to bat on the third day, India could only add 16 runs to reach a total of 157 runs. However, Australia achieved the target of 162 runs in just 27 overs. Today, Virat Kohli led the Indian side in Jasprit Bumrah's
absence.

On the second day of the final match, Jasprit Bumrah felt uneasy and left the stadium for a medical scan. He suffered a back spasm midway through the second session of the second day.

Expressing his disappointment for being unable to take part in the last day of the match, Bumrah said, "Disappointing, probably missed out on the spiciest wicket of the series. "

He further said, "It was a great series, Congratulations to Australia, they fought well for a well-deserved win."
