India made a strong start by leading Australia 1-5 in the first half, but its defence crumbled later in the match...

Digital Desk: India made a remarkable contribution by seizing a first-half lead, but its defence collapsed later as the team lost the fourth hockey Test 1-5 to Australia, giving Australia an unbeatable 3-1 series lead.

Dilpreet Singh (25th) scored early to put India ahead following a tenacious defensive performance by Harmanpreet and company in a goalless first quarter. However, India's defence faltered near the conclusion of the second quarter, with Jeremy Hayward (29th) and Jake Whetton (30th) scoring in a 50-second span. Before Hayward completed his brace, Tom Wickham (34th) extended the Kookaburra's advantage (41st).

Matt Dawson scored in the 54th minute with a low volley strike that beat Krishan Pathak. The series' final match will be held on Sunday, after losing the first two games, India had won their third game.
