The Supreme Court's intervention underscores the importance of responsible advertising, especially in the healthcare sector...

Digital Desk: The Supreme Court has taken a stern stance against misleading advertisements by Patanjali Ayurved, issuing a show cause notice to Baba Ramdev and directing him to appear before the court. This move comes as a response to Patanjali and its MD Acharya Balakrishnan failing to file a response on contempt proceedings.

Expressing strong disapproval, the court warned of consequences for their actions. It specifically addressed the issue of advertising the company's products and their medicinal efficacy, emphasizing the need for accountability.

This development stems from a plea filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), which highlighted Ramdev's alleged smear campaign against the vaccination drive and modern medicines. The Supreme Court's intervention underscores the importance of responsible advertising, especially in the healthcare sector.

This isn't the first time the court has addressed concerns regarding Patanjali's advertisements. In November 2023, it criticized the company for making false claims about curing diseases in its ads and threatened to impose heavy costs for such practices.

The Supreme Court's firm stance sends a clear message that false and misleading advertising will not be tolerated, especially when it comes to health-related claims. It underscores the court's commitment to protecting consumer rights and ensuring truthfulness in advertising practices.
