Digital Desk: The Crime Probe Department (CID) Assam conducted a raid at the official residence of former Bajali ASP Gayatri Sonowal in Guwahati's Kahilipara on Sunday as part of their ongoing probe into the Bajali corruption case.

Sources claim that the CID conducted a raid on the accused police officer's official apartment at the 10th Assam Police Battalion (APBn) in Kahilipara.

The CID examined her Honda Amaze car and conducted a thorough search of the house for evidence.

The police recovered several documents along with cash from Gayatri’s residence during the raid.

The accused officer was taken back to the CID Head Office after the operation was over.

Earlier on September 7, the CID and the Bajali Police carried out a joint operation in Guwahati to recover documents belonging to Gayatri Sonowal, who was charged with corruption along with several others. The raids were conducted at Gayatri's mother's house, House No. 4 of Jhilmil Road in Survey.

The former Bajali SP Siddhartha Buragohain is also being investigated for his suspected involvement in the case, and the CID reportedly discovered a suitcase containing Rs 50 lakh from his residence. Deepjoy, Buragohain's driver, is also under investigation.
