Digital Desk: The Assam Government organised an event on Sunday to distribute the largest number of seedlings in one day in Guwahati's Veterinary College Playground in an effort to break the Guinness World Record.

The state government has made nine efforts to establish a Guinness World Record, the second of which is the current event.

Assam's government claims that a spiral design made up of more than 3.2 lakh saplings was used to produce the 22 km long line of seedlings.
The seedling distribution commenced this morning at about 8 am, according to sources.

One crore seedlings are expected to be planted by the Assam government on September 17.

The longest line of potted seedlings placed in a spiral design over a 22 kilometre line with 3.5 lakh saplings was planted on Saturday as part of a special event in Guwahati.

In a previous statement, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that his state's administration is on track to break five existing world records and set four new ones as part of its massive plantation programme. The Amrit Brikshya Andolan project, according to the chief minister, would run from September 9 to September 17.
