Baksa: In a heart-wrenching incident, two fully grown female elephants were killed in Baksa district's Nonke Korebari area.

Reportedly, the elephants that came strutting down in search of food from the Bhutan hills got killed after coming in contact with an electric fence installed around a paddy field.

Batabari Forest Range official said, "Both the elephants were female. They came down from the Bhutan hill in search of food. The body will undergo post mortem and later will be buried."

"The culprit behind killing the elephants has surrendered and action will be taken against him." added.

The man behind the heinous act has been identified as Hareswar Daimary; he surrendered in the Simla Police Station in Baksa.
