The former brigadier of the Indian Army, BD Mishra, has been the governor of Arunachal Pradesh since 2017, and he also has the added responsibility of overseeing Meghalaya, which is a neighbouring state.

Digital Desk: Brigadier BD Mishra (Retd.) took the oath of office as the next governor of Meghalaya on Tuesday.

Mishra received his oath of office from Justice H.S. Thangkhiew during a ceremony conducted at the Shillong Raj Bhavan.

The former brigadier of the Indian Army, BD Mishra, has been the governor of Arunachal Pradesh since 2017, and he also has the added responsibility of overseeing Meghalaya, which is a neighbouring state.

Satya Pal Malik, the previous governor of Meghalaya, succeeded him on October 3.

Senior cabinet ministers and Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh attended the event.

Taking to Twitter, BD Mishra wrote, “Sworn-in as the Governor of Meghalaya. The senior most Judge of the High Court of Meghalaya, Justice H.S. Thangkhiew administered the oath of office to me at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, Shillong.”

It is to be noted that the State Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma welcomed the new governor to the state.

Taking it to Twitter, he wrote, “Congratulations and best wishes to @BrigMishraJi as he takes charge as the Governor of Meghalaya. Look forward to his counsel and support....We welcome him to our beautiful state!”
