Digital Desk: As speculations over skipper Rohit Sharma's retirement are doing rounds, he might decide to drop himself from the final Test match of the Border-Gavaskar trophy. After the team's defeat in Melbourne, Rohit is accused of putting himself first and making decisions according to his wishes. In the Melbourne Test, Shubman Gill was dropped and KL Rahul was demoted to the 3rd spot, making way for Rohit to bat as an opener.

But Rohit could not prove himself and failed in both the innings of the 4th match. Rohit Sharma scored 3 and 9 respectively in two innings of the 4th Test. The skipper received widespread criticism for his 'selfish' act. His inability to perform in the first four matches has raised questions among the critics and media.

In Rohit's absence due to the birth of his second child, team India defeated home team Australia under the leadership of pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the first Test. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul scored an opening partnership of 201-run.

In a pre-match press conference, Head coach Gautam Gambhir said, "Everything is fine with Rohit and we shall look at the pitch and announce the Playing 11 tomorrow." Gambhir confirmed pacer Akash Deep's exclusion from the team India squad due to a back injury.

Gambhir also said that India's focus is now on winning the final test in Sydney. In the press conference, he also said, "Every individual knows in which area to work. When you play for your country, you want to give your best. I think conversations between players and coach should
be restricted to the dressing room."

Australia won the 4th Test in Melbourne taking the lead to 2-1 in the series. India will take part in the final and 5th Test in Sydney.
