Assam to celebrate "Bhasa Gaurob Saptah" honoring the legacy of Assamese Language...

Digital Desk: The Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced through a post on X, that the whole of Assam will observe "Bhasa Gaurob Saptah" starting from 3rd November until 9th November this year.

The announcement was made after the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi approved Assamese as a Classical Language on October 3rd, 2024. This recognition, however small might be, is widely regarded as a major milestone in acknowledging the language's age-old history of enriching Indian culture.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said, " Throughout this week, universities, schools, and civil society organizations will host events to honor the contributions of Assamese writers and scholars, whose work has shaped the language since the 4th century AD". The goal of these events is to motivate the younger generation that continue their linguistic legacy.

In his post, CM Sarma also acknowledged  Prime Minister Modi for the recognition of the Assamese language which has a long cultural history to itself. The celebration is likely to bring together the people of Assam in renewing their respect towards their mother tongue and contributing to the nation's linguistic history.
