Governor Acharya Devvrat swore in Patel as the 18th Chief Minister at a ceremony held at the Helipad Ground...

Digital Desk: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bhupendra Patel, sworn in as Gujarat's Chief Minister for the second time on Monday in Gandhinagar, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other dignitaries.

Governor Acharya Devvrat swore in Patel as the 18th Chief Minister at a ceremony held at the Helipad Ground near the new Secretariat.

BJP officials have confirmed the attendance of the prime minister, Shah, and the chief ministers of all states governed by the BJP.

Other new ministers will also take the oath of office alongside Patel.

The voting for the 182-seat Gujarat Assembly concluded on December 8, and the BJP easily gained power. The Congress won 17 of the parliamentary districts, while the AAP only won 5.

Chief Minister Patel, 60, and his entire cabinet resigned on Friday to make way for the formation of a new government after the election results.

On Saturday, he was chosen as the head of the BJP parliamentary party, and on Sunday, he met with the governor and announced his intention to form the next government.

Patel's victory margin in Ghatlodia was the highest of any seat, with 1.92 lakh votes.

In September 2021, Patel succeeded Vijay Rupani as chief minister. He was a low-key BJP leader and the first to emerge from the Kadva Patidar sub-group.

Given the historic mandate, the BJP is reportedly in the midst of hectic discussions to select cabinet candidates while striving to strike a delicate balance between caste and regional participation, according to PTI.
