Digital Desk: An official stated on Monday that a 24-year-old female police officer pretended to be a medical student in order to investigate a case of ragging that had been reported at the government-run Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) medical college in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) helpline had received a complaint from a college student, and on July 24, the institute's administration filed a criminal complaint against unnamed pupils.

"The ragging episode was fully described in the complaint on the UGC helpline, but the identities of the accused and the complaining student were omitted. The complaint also included pictures of conversations from a social media site, but no specific student count was provided "Tehzeeb Qazi, the supervisor of the Sanyogitaganj police station, informed PTI.

According to the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) provisions, notices have been given to the accused, and they have been urged to assist with the investigations and show up in court when the chargesheet is filed, the official said.

The college administration last Monday suspended them for three months with immediate effect after receiving a list of the accused students, he added.
