The festival aimed to showcase Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage and natural environment by recreating traditional houses and shops made of banana leaves and bamboo.
Digital Desk: The first ever "Manas Winter Festival" was held in Panbang close to the Manas National Park in Bhutan on 22nd and 23rd February . The key goal behind the festival was to promote and publicize Bhutan’s tourism . The event occurred in the stunning Panbang landscape and marked the same date as Bhutan's king’s birthday on 21st February.
Through traditional houses constructed from banana leaves and bamboo the festival recreated the Bhutanese ancestral lifestyle during the period 50-60 years ago in order to demonstrate the nation's cultural heritage beside its natural environment. Sustainability was the guiding principle for this festival due to its plastic-free organization which depended solely on natural resources.
Festival visitors were introduced to Bhutanese traditional cultural displays and local food items including beverages and vegetables were sold at the event. A significant wildlife photography display provided people with the chance to observe rare animals and records of tiger and snake footprints obtained by the forest department from the Royal Manas National Park.
Tourists along with local visitors from India joined the festival which enhanced both Bhutan-India cultural relations as well as diplomatic links. The government of Bhutan enhanced tourism facilities through the development of access to the nearby Twin Waterfalls for visitors The festival was a significant step in boosting tourism and strengthening Bhutan-India relations.
