According to the East Central Railway, the incident caused rail traffic on the sections Up and Down lines to be disrupted.

Digital Desk: At least 53 wagons of a cargo train carrying coal derailed at Gurpa railway station on the Gaya-Koderma section of the Dhanbad division of the East Central Railway (ECR) on Wednesday morning. An engine dragged a wagon of the derailed goods train, and passengers could be seen running away from the scene after 53 wagons of the goods train derailed close to Gurpa station on the Gaya-Koderma railway line.



According to a statement from East Central Railway (ECR), the event happened at roughly 6.24 am between Koderma and Manpur railway stations in the Dhanbad division.

According to the East Central Railway, the incident caused rail traffic on the sections Up and Down lines to be disrupted.

The incident caused fear at the railway station, and the incident's video is going widespread on social media. “On 26.10.2022, 53 wagons of a coal-laden goods train derailed at Gurpa station between Koderma and Manpur railway section of Dhanbad division at 06.24 am today, resulting in disruption of rail traffic on Up and Down lines. There have been no casualties in the incident,” East Central Railway said in a bulletin on Twitter.



According to a top ECR Zone source reported by PTI, "We still don't know what caused this specifically. The lines are currently being restored by railroad teams." Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident.

Following the incident, ten trains were redirected to other lines and four were partially terminated, the statement read. In light of the accident of a freight train at Gurpa in the Dhanbad division, the railway has also provided helpline numbers for the convenience of passengers.

According to a further update from East Central Railway, partial terminations have been made to the 13305 Dhanbad-Dehri On Sone Intercity Express, 13553 Asansol-Varanasi Express, 13546 Gaya-Asansol Express, and 13545 Asansol-Gaya Express, all of which are scheduled to depart from Dhanbad.
