Nitish Kumar is taking the oath of office as Chief Minister just one day after resigning from the post and leaving the National Democratic Alliance.

Nitish Kumar was sworn in by Governor Phagu Chauhan. More ministers, according to reports, will be appointed to the cabinet at a later date.

Nitish's decision to leave the NDA enraged the BJP, who accused him of betraying the people of Bihar. "Under NDA, we fought the 2020 elections together." The JD(U)-BJP alliance received the mandate.

We (the BJP) won more seats, but Nitish Kumar was elected as Chief Minister. "What happened today is a betrayal of the people of Bihar and the BJP," said party state chief Sanjay Jaiswal.

The state Assembly's effective strength is 242, and the magic figure is 122. The Congress has 19 legislators in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, while the JD(U) has 45, the RJD has 79, the CPI(ML) has 12, and the CPI and CPI(M) each have two.

In Bihar, the BJP has 77 MLAs, while the Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) has four. The House has one independent MLA and one vacancy. Congress is expected to join the government, and left-wing parties are expected to provide outside support.
