Digital Desk: A list of candidates for the upcoming bye-elections in Arunachal Pradesh was announced on Wednesday by the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the BJP.

The party has chosen to run Tsering Lhamu for the Lumla (ST) seat in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Election Commission released the schedule for the bye-elections for six assembly seats spread across five states earlier in January.

On February 27, by-elections will be held in two assembly constituencies in Maharashtra and one assembly constituency in each of Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu.

Lakshadweep's parliamentary district will have byelections on February 27.

On March 2, the results of all byelections will be tallied.

Due to Mohammed Faizal PP, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), being disqualified, voting will take place in the parliamentary district of Lakshadweep.

After BJP leader Jambey Tashi passed away in Lumla, Arunachal Pradesh, the seat was left empty. In Ramgarh, Jharkhand, an election was required since Congress leader Mamta Devi was disqualified.

The election became necessary following the passing of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Subrata Saha from West Bengal's Sagardighi seat and Congress politician Thiru E Thirumahan Everaa from Tamil Nadu's Erode (east).

The passing of BJP heavyweights Mukta Shailesh Tilak and Laxman Pandurang Jagtap, respectively, necessitated elections in the Maharashtrian districts of Kasba Peth and Chinchwad.

The deadline for filing nominations is February 7.
