Digital Desk: A young man was severely hurt after being stabbed by a miscreant in Guwahati's Dispur neighbourhood on Wednesday night.
According to sources, the youth, named as Abhijit Saikia, was attacked while sleeping at his home on Debdaru path, behind the MLA hostel in Dispur.
Abhijeet was allegedly stabbed in the stomach and leg, causing him to bleed heavily. Fortunately, the stab wounds were not deadly, according to additional sources.
It should be noted that the young man comes from a wealthy family and is the son of a Supreme Court lawyer, Nirupama Saikia.
Following the event, he was transported to the city's GNRC hospital for immediate medical assistance.
Soon after, Dispur police arrived at the crime scene and began an investigation.
In another case, an unnamed criminal allegedly murdered a brother and sister in Assam's Bongaigaon.
According to reports, the miscreants broke into their home last night and attacked the pair, killing them.
The motive for the suspected murder has yet to be determined.
