Digital Desk: The (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) BMC chief Iqbal Singh Chahal stated no plan for lockdown in Mumbai. India's financial capital has no strategies to shut down even as it recorded 20,181 new positive Covid-19 cases on Thursday.
The Maharashtra government has already banned large gatherings and set limitations on the number of individuals who can attend events.
Regardless, BMC chief Iqbal Singh Chahal stated through an interview that no lockdown and further curbs are planned so far.

Even though new positive cases of the latest Omicron variant have zoomed, "only 5%" of patients needed medical assistance and most recovered faster."
Iqbal Singh Chahal also said that the death rate was low. It was about one a day in the last two weeks, although the daily infections are much higher than the about 11,000 detected during the Delta wave.
"Yesterday, we got more than 15,000 cases. Of this, only 80 patients went on oxygen beds, and only around 35" needed intensive care, BMC chief Chahal expressed. "There is no case for a lockdown."
The Maharashtra government has earlier restricted any gathering for New Year eve due to the rising number of Covid cases. However, the number of positive cases could be seen rising quickly in the state.
