Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second campus of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) today. The inauguration of the second campus took place in Kolkata through video conferencing.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also accompanied the video conferencing for the inauguration of the second CNCI campus.
The Prime Minister's Office stated that the second campus of the CNCI has been constructed in line with the PM's vision to expand and upgrade the healthcare facilities in all parts of the nation.
The PMO's statement further added, "CNCI was facing a heavy load of cancer patients, and a need for expansion was being felt for some time. This requirement will be met through the new campus."
The second campus of CNCI (Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute) was built at over Rs 530 crore. Around Rs 400 crore was equipped by the Union government and the rest by the West Bengal government in the ratio of 75:25.

The second new campus is a 460-bed extended cancer centre unit with a cutting-edge cancer diagnosis, stage, medicine, and supervision infrastructure.
Moreover, the new centre is fitted with modern installations like Nuclear Medicine (PET), 3.0 Tesla MRI, 128 slice CT scanner, Radionuclide therapy unit, endoscopy suite, modern brachytherapy units etc.
PM Modi, during the conference, also revealed that India had achieved the historic landmark of assisting 150 crore vaccines today.
PM Modi stated, "Out of the entire suitable people, over 90% of India's population has at least got one vaccine dose. In merely 5 days, more than 1.5 crore youths aged between 15-17 have been given a dose."
"The government has correspondingly decreased the price of knee implants, & that has especially benefited our senior citizens. This has assisted in a yearly decline of Rs 1,500 crore, supporting the citizens. The PM National Dialysis Programme has helped 12 lakh needy with free dialysis," PM Modi added.
