Digital Desk: When the entire world is greeting the new year with happiness and fun, a piece of bad news has arrived for the people of Lumding, Assam. The new variant Omicron is forming serious concern among the nation's people.

As per the latest information, around 23 people from the Lumding, Hojai district have been detected with coronavirus. Health officials have recorded all these positive cases within a single day. 

The recorded individuals who tested positive include 21 jawans of Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) battalions of Lumding and two other railway officials.

Government officials and health officials have already started the testing process for the rest of the jawans in the Lumding camp and all other railway officials.

However, the health department seems to be worried about the increasing number of cases due to the surge of Covid 19 and its new variant Omicron.
