Guwahati: Strong tremors hit the state of Assam at a magnitude of 4.1 today at 1.12 pm, with the epicenter being 31 kilometers southwest of Guwahati, Kamrup Metro, reported India’s National Center for Seismology (NCS).

Taking to the twitter, the official account of National Center for Seismology wrote, “Earthquake of Magnitude:4.1, Occurred on 20-11-2021, 13:12:15 IST, Lat: 26.07 & Long: 91.36, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 38km WSW of Guwahati, Assam.”

According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 10 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The quake’s exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth might be revised within the next few hours or minutes after seismologists review data and refine their calculations.
