Ludhiana: A high intensity blast rocked Ludhiana district court today afternoon. The blast took place inside the district court complex, on the second floor of the court number nine building.

Chaos and commotion spread across the court complex as people started leaving the building after hearing the blast. A stampede broke out following which several got injured in the mayhem.

As per preliminary sources, the explosion was heard near the Record Room of the court complex. Two persons have been reported dead while several others feared injured in the blast. The bomb disposal squad along with the forensics team rushed to the court to look out for other probable bombs if any.

Speaking to the media on the blast incident, Ludhiana police commissioner said that the explosion took place on the second floor of the court complex. The bomb disposal squad and the forensic team from Chandigarh is currently investigating the blast.

The police commissioner has urged people to maintain calm and not panic as several have been reported injured due to the stampede.

Sources have quoted that several cars in the parking lot of the court too have been damaged.

Meanwhile the injured have been rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment. An investigation for the same has been initiated.
