The CM attacked the Congress in a now-deleted tweet by claiming that the grand old party had accepted the name given by the British.



Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma rallied with the slogan “BJP for BHARAT” in apparent retribution to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), which is run by the Congress, changing its name to I-N-D-I-A.


The Assam Chief Minister said on Twitter that the British had designated their country as India. He advised that we should make an effort to rid ourselves of the effects of colonialism.


According to him, the BJP would continue to fight for Bharat, just as our forefathers did.


He wrote, “Our civilisational conflict is pivoted around India and Bharat.The British named our country as India. We must strive to free ourselves from colonial legacies. Our forefathers fought for Bharat, and we will continue to work for Bharat . BJP for BHARAT”

It should be mentioned that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), which is led by the Indian National Congress, has changed its name to "I-N-D-I-A" (Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance), in a recent move that occurred during today's meeting of opposition parties in Bengaluru.


The coalition of Indian center-left political parties known as UPA was established in 2004. Sonia Gandhi served as its chairperson as a coalition of about 10 political parties created it.


The 26 opposition parties meeting in Bengaluru to plan a strategy to take on the BJP together before the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections are considering joining together under the acronym I-N-D-I-A.
