Sources said that the administration intended to present a "white paper" that contrasted the conditions of the Indian economy before and following 2014.

Digital Desk: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the current budget session of the legislature will be extended by one day, till Saturday.

Sources said that the administration intended to present a "white paper" that contrasted the conditions of the Indian economy before and following 2014.

Other than that, the session was scheduled to conclude on February 9 and started on January 31.

A 'White Paper' contrasting the conditions of the Indian economy pre- and post-2014 was to be released, according to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's announcement during her interim budget statement.

The economy has been firmly placed on a highly sustainable growth path with all-around development, having overcome the crises of those years.

"It is now appropriate to look at where we were then till 2014 and where we are now, only to draw lessons from the mismanagement of those years. The government will lay a White Paper on the table of the House," the finance minister had said in her speech on February 1.

Parliament usually does not function on weekends but there have been instances in the recent past when the Houses have met on Saturdays.
