Digital Desk: Burmese supari worth Rs 1 crore was seized from a vehicle in a combined operation by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Karimganj Police, authorities said on Sunday.

According to information received, a truck with the registration number NL-01AB-8938 was stopped in the Badarpur neighbourhood of Karimganj, and 16,907 kg of Burmese supari were found inside.

The Samsuddin-identified truck driver was captured by police. The truck was travelling from Karimganj to Guwahati, according to the police.

"During the joint search operation, we recovered 16,907 kgs of Burmese Supari from the truck. Additionally, we detained Samsuddin, the truck driver. The confiscated Burmese Supari is worth roughly Rs 1 crore on the open market, according to estimates," stated Partha Protim Das, Superintendent of Police, Karimganj Police, in response to a question.
