Virat Kohli has surpassed 200 million Instagram followers, making him the first Indian, cricketer, and Asian to do so.


Digital Desk: On Tuesday, cricketer Virat Kohli reached 200 million Instagram followers, making him the first Indian to do so.


Kohli praised his supporters for their support in an Instagram post, writing, "There are 200 million people globally. Thank you for your continued support, Instagram family."



On Instagram, the Royal Challengers Bangalore batter is the 17th most followed star.


The 33-year-old batter has made history by being the first cricketer and the first Asian to reach 200 million Facebook followers.

 

Virat has become the next most actively followed on Insta Behind Cristiano Ronaldo (450 million) followers and Lionel Messi (333million); the former India captain is also the third most followed active athlete on Instagram (200mn) followers.


This year, Kohli had a bad IPL season, scoring 341 runs in 16 games, and has been ruled out of India's forthcoming home series against South Africa, which begins on June 9.
