During searches, incriminating items, including cash and other documents worth Rs 5.5 lakh, were found.

Digital Desk: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has busted a network of infant traffickers involved in the buying and selling of infants across India. The CBI searched seven locations in Delhi and Haryana as part of the operation.

During the operation, the CBI also managed to rescue a girl infant who was one month old, two male newborns who were only 1.5 days and 15 days old, and a house in Delhi's Keshavpuram region. During searches, incriminating items, including cash and other documents worth Rs 5.5 lakh, were found.

Seven more suspects connected to the network of human trafficking were detained by the CBI. Neeraj, Indu Pawar, Aslam, Pooja Kashyap, Ritu, Anjali, and Kavita are the defendants who were detained.

Neeraj was a native of Sonepat, Haryana; the others resided in different parts of Delhi. The CBI filed a criminal case against 10 accused under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 and various penal provisions of the Indian Penal Code. The allegations were that a network of infant traffickers was buying and selling infants throughout India for the purpose of adoption and other illicit purposes.

As to the findings of the investigation, the accused can interact with childless couples in India who are interested in adopting infants using social media advertisements on platforms such as Facebook pages and WhatsApp groups.

They allegedly purchase babies from both biological parents and surrogate moms, then resell the young youngsters for between Rs 4 and Rs 6 lakhs each.

These accused are also allegedly involved in duping many childless couples of lakhs of rupees by creating fake documents related to adoption. Further, a thorough investigation is underway.
