New Delhi: Centre has planned to develop container-based mobile hospitals soon in India. These mobile hospitals will be the first in Asia.
Union minister of health and family welfare Mansukh Mandaviya commented about the initiative. Mandaviya stated that the centre has planned to set up two mobile hospitals in India. These mobile hospitals will move by rail or air to address a health emergency.
Minister Mandaviya stated that the newly launched PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission would serve the health sector. The scheme covers an expense of more than ₹64,000 crores. This scheme aims to meet important gaps in public health infrastructure. It will especially look into critical care and basic care facilities in both urban and rural areas.
Addressing the press conference, Mandaviya aimed out that the Mission will serve the health care sector to deal with any future disruptions.
"COVID-19 has allowed us to boost healthcare facilities. Including laboratories, clinics and diagnostic facilities at all the levels of healthcare," stated Mandaviya.

Under the mission around people can receive free tests at the district level. He stated that for the first time in Asia, two container-based hospitals, implemented with extensive medical facilities, will be stationed in Chennai and Delhi and kept ready to be quickly mobilised by rail or air to counter any misfortune or disaster.
"Initiatives under the Mission, including strengthening of points of entry, will ring-fence our borders against the import of new infectious diseases and pathogens. Health Emergency Operation Centres and the container-based mobile hospitals shall further build capacities for effective emergency response during such times," he declared.
To secure adequate basic healthcare means, 1,50,000 Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres are ready to set up. Out of these, around 79,000 are previously operating. The minister added that work has begun ensuring that each district has at least one medical college.
