The old students must submit a "Certificate of Returning to Campus" given by their Chinese university, while the new students must present an actual admission letter from a Chinese university.

Digital Desk: China announced on Monday that it will begin issuing student visas to Indians after a two-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

When COVID-19 cases began rapidly rising in the nation in January 2020, about 20,000 Indian medical students had already returned from China. Due to Beijing's strict measures to stop the virus's spread and the lack of direct flights, they were unable to return to China to finish their studies.

Several of these students have been requesting permission to attend Chinese institutions ever since February. They have asked the Indian government to raise the issue with China on numerous occasions.

The Chinese Embassy in New Delhi released thorough guidelines for visa applications on Monday.

"Best wishes to the Indian students!"  Ji Rong, a counsellor at the Department of Asian Affairs under the Foreign Ministry in Beijing, shared information regarding the visa application process in a tweet. "Your patience proves worthwhile. Welcome back to China."

According to the statement, China will grant student visas to registered students as well as to alumni who were unable to visit China because of the pandemic.

The old students must submit a "Certificate of Returning to Campus" given by their Chinese university, while the new students must present an actual admission letter from a Chinese university.

However, as per the reports, noting a surge in COVID-19 cases in their provinces, some colleges in China are choosing not to provide such letters.

Direct flights between China and India have not yet been restarted.

People who entered the nation via backdoor methods paid prices that were many times greater than those for direct flights.

According to Indian and Chinese officials, negotiations to resume flights are ongoing between the two nations, PTI reported.
