Digital Desk: An illegal residential girls' madrasa in Dhubri's Sahebganj became the center of a deeply shocking incident involving a fraudulent cleric.
The cleric, identified as Moktar Hussain, allegedly made inappropriate proposals to a 13-year-old female student, reportedly pressuring her to share his bed at night.
The young girl, refusing his advances, immediately informed a local resident, Sirajul Shikari, about the incident.
With the support of the local community, the cleric was swiftly apprehended and handed over to the Balajan police.
The madrasa's management committee has come under fire, with accusations of attempting to cover up the incident.
Reports have also emerged alleging that the madrasa has a troubling history of sexual abuse against female students, with previous cases reportedly being suppressed.
For years, the institution has allegedly operated illegally, subjecting its girl students to exploitation.
The police have launched an investigation into the matter, although concerns have arisen about efforts by certain groups to influence and manage the victim's family.
