Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma sought a fair and impartial inquiry into the tragic death of a young Assamese woman near Nongpoh Police Station on June 4.

The deceased, identified as Namrata Bora (25) died in a road accident near Nongpoh in Meghalaya in the early hours of June 4.

Taking to X, CM Sarma said that an accident occurred near Nongpoh Police Station on Wednesday, when a vehicle bearing Assam registration number AS 01 EV 9578 met with an accident, resulting in the tragic death of Namrata.

He added that four other co-passengers sustained minor injuries during the accident.

A case has been registered at the Nongpoh Police Station, CM Sarma said.

The deceased woman's family and well-wishers have raised concerns regarding her tragic death and a fair and impartial inquiry should be conducted by a senior police officer, CM Sarma added.

Namrata Bora, a young woman from Assam, succumbed to injuries following the collision of her vehicle with a stationary truck at Shangbangla in the Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya.

The incident occurred when the vehicle Namrata was travelling along with four co-passengers met with an accident around 4:44 am on June 4.
