Digital Desk: Coal India stock jumped more than 3% in opening trade on Thursday, reaching a 52-week high after the company reported a strong June quarterly report.

After its June quarter earnings nearly tripled to Rs 8,832.86 crore, the stock opened strongly at Rs 226.00 on the BSE before surging to a 52-week high of Rs 226.10, representing a 2.84 percent increase over its previous closing price.

The stock rose 3.16 percent to a 52-week high of Rs 226.80 on the NSE.

On the strength of increasing sales, Coal India Ltd. reported on Wednesday an almost three-fold increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 8,832.86 crore for the June 2022 quarter.

Coal India Ltd (CIL) reported in a BSE filing that the business earned a net profit of Rs 3,169.86 crore in the same period last year.

Its revenue from operations climbed to Rs 35,092.17 crore in April-June from Rs 25,282.75 crore the previous year.

Net revenues for the company increased in the first quarter from Rs 23,293.65 crore to Rs 32,497.9 crore.

Its output increased to 159.75 million tonnes (MT) in the April-June period, up from 123.98 MT in the previous fiscal quarter.
