Digital Desk: When the opposition block is fighting with each other, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) convened a joint meeting in Barpeta. 


Following the discussions, BJP district president Anil Kumar Das briefed the media, highlighting the decision to intensify the campaign by specifically targeting beneficiaries of government schemes. Emphasising a grassroots approach, the meeting underscored the importance of public engagement initiatives, as per sources.


The meeting, attended by prominent figures including AGP candidate Phani Bhusan Chowdhury, Birendra Prasad Baishya, Kumar Deepak Das, Kamala Kalita, and BJP Barpeta district president Anil Kumar Das, focused on formulating a strong campaign plan for the district.


According to the sources, the joint campaign will involve extensive door-to-door outreach to ensure that beneficiaries receiving government assistance are effectively reached. Additionally, concerted efforts will address the needs of marginalized sections of society, aiming to ensure that they receive their entitled benefits.


Anil Kumar Das also announced the formation of Karnadhar committees at the Lok Sabha constituency, district, and assembly constituency levels to oversee the campaign activities.


Expressing confidence in the AGP's prospects, senior leader Birendra Prasad Baishya asserted the party's expected victory in Barpeta. AGP candidate Phani Bhushan Chaudhary echoed this sentiment, expressing optimism about his chances of securing victory over opposition candidates.
