Digital Desk: One of the biggest sporting events, the Commonwealth Games 2022, is all set to kick start on Thursday.
At the athletic spectacular, over 5000 athletes from 72 countries will compete for podium finishes.
The participants will compete in swimming, boxing, gymnastics, wrestling, cricket, hockey, and various other games at the event. The games will be played in the beautiful city of Birmingham.
In Birmingham, a 215-member Indian delegation that consists of 111 male athletes and 104 female athletes, will compete in 15 different sports. India's flag bearers at Birmingham will be PV Sindhu and Manpreet Singh as Neeraj Chopra will be missing from the games due to an injury.
This time around, a total of seven Assamese athletes are taking part in the sporting event.
The athletes who will be competing at the event from Assam are Lovlina Borgohian and Shiva Thapa will compete in boxing, Hima Das will compete in athletics, Popy Hazarika will compete in weightlifting, Tania Choudhury, Nayanmoni Saikia, and Mridul Borgohain will compete in lawn bowling.
