Digital Desk: According to police, one person was killed after communal clashes erupted in two Gujarat cities on Sunday as a result of s tone-pelting on religious procession.
After a procession to mark Ram Navmi passed through Muslim-dominated areas, clashes erupted in the state's Himmatnagar, about 70 kilometres from Gandhinagar, and Khambhat, about 125 kilometres from the state capital, according to the state's director general of police (DGP) Ashish Bhatia.
"When the Ram Navmi processions passed through Muslim-dominated areas, stone-pelting erupted, resulting in incidents of violence (in the cities). The situation is now under control "Bhatia stated. He also stated that a "elderly person" was killed in the clashes in Khambat, but his identity had not yet been determined.
