Digital Desk: Hours after a video of a police constable criticizing the poor food being provided at the mess went viral, Firozabad police initiated an investigation into the district police's  food quality.

According to the police, Circle Officer (City) Abhishek Srivastava was given the assignment by SP (Firozabad) Ashish Tiwari.

"In the mess, food is cooked each day for about 100 police officers... The investigation report would be used to guide the next course of action," Additional SP (Firozabad) Akhilesh Narain Singh said.

Constable Manoj Kumar, who is shown in the viral video complaining about the food quality, has faced disciplinary action 15 times in the past few years for various reasons, including being absent, indiscipline, and negligence, according to Firozabad police.

A crying Kumar has seen in the video complaining that the food is of such poor quality that "even animals cannot eat." The constable then continues to claim that he is under pressure and that no one in the police department is willing to listen to their complaints.

He further said that his PSO told him to disconnect the phone or risk being fired when he attempted to report about the situation to the DGP. According to Kumar, police officers are killing themselves because they are under pressure.

Manoj Kumar, an Aligarh native, is a police constable from the 2018 class. His first posting was in Firozabad. "He is upset following his divorce... According to Reserve Police Lines Inspector Devendra Singh Sikarwar, Manoj had a disagreement with the mess management (head constable) for delivering his dinner late. As a result, Manoj purposefully staged the scene at around 2 PM because the food depicted in the video was provided to him around 9 AM.
