Digital Desk: Cotton University celebrated the 8th International Day of Yoga with attendance of officers, faculty members, staff members and students at Dr. T Ao Indoor Stadium of the University here today.

Professor Mahadev Patgiri, Registrar in-charge, Cotton University, and Professor Manjit Kumar Bhattacharya, Dean, Cotton University's Students Welfare, officially opened the event at 7 a.m. Following that, Ankita Borthakur, an entrepreneur and yoga coach, led a course with Dhrubajyoti Haloi as the physical instructor.

It's worth noting that, as part of the countdown to this year's International Yoga Day celebrations, the Cotton University NSS Unit has been hosting a series of activities, including a yoga workshop, a yoga competition, and a yoga demonstration, on two specific dates set by the Ministry of Ayush for the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. Furthermore, with the cooperation of the District Sports Officer, Kamrup Metropolitan, the University's NSS Unit organised daily yoga practise sessions for members of the University from June 6 to June 20.

Notable members of the University who attended the programme included Dr Prasanta Sarma, Director, Students’ Welfare, Dr Ruma Talukdar, Vice-President, Cotton University Teachers’ Association, Dr Bandana Sharma, Dr Debajyoti Barooah,  Dr Parishmita Bordoloi and Dr Kulen Das, Physical Instructor, Cotton University.
