Digital Desk: The Bangalmara Police in Lakhimpur, Assam, arrested a person on Tuesday in a large operation for allegedly distributing counterfeit money worth Rs 20 lakh.

According to sources, the arrestee has been identified as Imdadul Islam, hailing from Ahmedpur no. 1.

The fake currency was found hidden inside a water tank.

Imdadul Islam was caught by the authorities, but several individuals involved in this illicit operation managed to escape.

Further highlighting the police's efforts to battle fake notes in the area, another supplier of fake notes was also apprehended from Sonapur No. 2.
